One year into the new financing system for K-12 schools, a PPIC poll shows a majority of Californians approve of the move towards local decision-making.
Long Beach education system over recent years has been using creative methods to increase the access of higher learning to its residents. California State University Long Beach, Long Beach Community College(LBCC) and Long Beach Unified School Districts currently have programs in place to increase student access to a college degree. The newest program stems from the passing of AB 955 in October. AB 955 allows community colleges to offer winter and summer classes funded entirely by student tuition. LBCC is the first school to use the new policy and has already implemented a pilot program consisting of five core classes for the current winter session.
